From grounds improvements to new displays and activities, Corvette Funfest 2011 brings with it lots of changes for a new and improved experience! This year the entire event will be located on the north side of Mid America Motorworks' corporate campus, creating a cohesive experience.
Due to an overwhelming response from guests, Corvette Funfest will open a day earlier on Thursday, Sept. 15 with a Funfest Preview Day. Funfest grounds will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday with free parking so guests can register, check-in and explore Funfest a day earlier than in previous years. Funfest Preview Day incorporates the Thursday Fun Run and Downtown Street Party by allowing participants to line up on Funfest Boulevard to begin the Fun Run.
Probably the most noticeable change to Funfest is the upgrade to infrastructure. Additional paved roads are being added to use the facilities to their fullest extent. Guests will find it easier to navigate the grounds, reach parking and make their way to off the grounds in the evenings. One visible change to the Funfest landscape is the new Install Dome. Construction of the 10,400 square foot dome is nearly complete. The new dome will provide a covered area for exhaust, intake and brake installations. One end of the Install Dome will be dedicated to wheel and tire upgrades provided by Neal Tire, a Corvette Funfest sponsor.
Mid America Motorworks has also taken a new approach to parking at Funfest by bringing all Corvettes in through Gate 4. The change will bring Corvette owners into all the action as they make their way to their designated parking area. Color-coded parking stickers are being mailed to pre-registered guests to make the process simple.
Sunday at Corvette Funfest 2011 is Family Fun Day! Mid America Motorworks is celebrating the 18th Corvette Funfest on Sept. 18th with all activities scheduled around 18 minutes past the hour. The Lincoln Trails Council of Boy Scouts of America will host a Faith Service at 8:18 a.m. on Funfest grounds. At 10:18 a.m., the first Funfest 5K Walk/Run will take place around the Funfest grounds. Registration for the 5K is available at corvette.mamotorworks.com by searching "Funfest 5K." Free Sunday activities include a Sunday concert featuring Travis Birch at 1:18 p.m., tethered hot air balloon rides from Pepsi Mid America, free games at the Mt. Dew Road Show and much more!
Back by popular demand, a Winner's Corral has been added to the Funfest grounds for those lucky Corvette drivers who receive Celebrity Choice Awards. "Funfest Paradise, For Ladies Only" provides female Corvette enthusiasts with exclusive seminars, a wine tasting and class, Corvette merchandise and spa services. The Food Court has been reinvented to provide guests with easy access and vendors with space for equipment and supplies, making it easier than ever to serve customers.
With all these improvements in place and more on the horizon, it is no wonder that Mid America Motorworks is fast becoming known as an entertainment destination as well as an aftermarket supplier and manufacturer of automotive parts and accessories.
